Kruger Products has launched its innovative and sustainable Bonterra line of household paper, which includes toilet paper, wipes and facial tissues. The product line has been carefully designed to inspire Canadians to start with household products and buy plastic-free packaging from reliable sources. The Bonterra product range is revolutionizing household paper categories while prioritizing sustainable production methods, including:
• Sourcing responsibly (products made from 100% recycled paper, Forest Stewardship Council chain-of-custody certification);
• Use plastic-free packaging (recycled paper packaging and core for toilet paper and wiping paper, renewable and reusable cartons and flexible packaging for facial tissues);
• Adopt a carbon-neutral production model;
• Planted in Canada, and in collaboration with two environmental organisations, 4ocean and One Tree Planted.
Bonterra has partnered with 4ocean to remove 10,000 pounds of plastic from the ocean, and plans to work with One Tree Planted to plant more than 30,000 trees.
As Canada's leading manufacturer of premium lifestyle paper Products, Kruger Products has launched a sustainability initiative, Reimagine 2030, which sets aggressive goals, for example, to reduce the amount of native plastic packaging in its branded products by 50%.
The sustainable development of wet wipes, on the one hand, is the raw material of wet wipes. At present, some products still use polyester material. This petroleum-based chemical fiber material is difficult to degrade, which requires more degradable materials to be applied and promoted in the category of wet wipes. On the other hand, it is necessary to improve the packaging scheme, including product design and packaging materials, adopt more environmentally friendly packaging design, and use degradable packaging materials to replace the current packaging materials.
Raw materials are basically divided into two categories, one is petroleum-based materials, the other is biological based materials. In fact, biodegradable materials are more commonly referred to now. Biodegradable refers to the degradation of more than 75% within 45 days under certain external environment such as water and soil. In the biological base, including cotton, viscose, Lyser, etc., are degradable materials. There are also some plastic straws that you use today, labeled PLA, which is also made of biodegradable material. There are also some biodegradable materials that have been commercialized in petroleum, such as PBAT and PCL. When making products, enterprises should conform to the planning requirements of the whole country and the industry, think about the layout of the next generation, and create a greener future for the next generation and realize sustainable development under the plastic restriction policy.
